WNY Labor Giveback 2023: Hit the Ground Running! Labor Day is a time for us to reflect on our movement’s legacy of fighting for the rights of workers and the power of strong communities. Each year we honor that work by hosting a community giveback event designed to deepen our roots in service to those families that need it the most. This year we are thrilled to launch Hit the Ground Running, a back-to-school event for K-8 students. This event will provide students in need with a free pair of sneakers so that they can kick off the school year the right way.

Celebrating Community Action: The Labor Movement is strongest when we root ourselves in commitment to our community. We're proud to recognize IUPAT District Council 4 for their recent efforts in Hamburg to paint and restore the tank outside VFW Post 1419!

Shout-out to IUPAT member Bill Mayer for sharing this great photo, and this video about this day of community action!

From the National AFL-CIO's Executive Paywatch: CEO-to-Worker pay ratio was 272-to-1 in 2022. This is not only unacceptable, but it's getting worse as bad employers embrace Artificial Intelligence that puts profits over people. The best tool we have to stop this is the power of unions, collective action, and strong contracts.
